Private Golf Course Home Ownership Includes Certain Privileges
There is a perception of exclusivity in living in a private golf
course home and the opportunities to own such a home are becoming
more open. Generally, there are only a few of the older established
homes available near exclusive golf courses, but there are more
homes being introduced to the market every year. Not that more homes
are being built along the fairways of established clubs, but more that
there are more private golf courses being built inside private communities.
Private golf courses typically restrict play to persons residing in the
community as any charges they pay for shared maintenance within the
community also accounts for maintenance of the golf course. Private golf
course home ownership often includes access to the course, but in some
communities is not include greens fees. In many instances, membership
in the club allows the person access to the grounds and many other
amenities that may be available, but they will still be charged a
fee when they golf to help pay for course maintenance.
Many private golf communities also only allow for an established number
of members to belong to the golf club and the number of guests they
are allowed to bring with them is also limited. Essentially, they
are trying to maintain the exclusive nature of the private clubs by,
as some members have stated, to keep out those who do not belong. By
being a private golf course homeowner, they also feel a sense of
belonging to an exclusive neighborhood in which they and their families
can feel the security that accompanies a private neighborhood.
The closer private golf course homes are located to the fairways, the
more expensive they are and even with the persistent foot traffic
throughout the golf season there are seldom any concerns about privacy
or safety of the adjacent homes. Since the golfers on the private golf
course are likely also homeowners, there is a large degree of respect
for those lining the fairways rooting for them as they pass by.
In most of the private golf course home communities, there is a feeling
of kinship among the other residents and they will go out of their way
to save the community from falling into disarray.
