Golf Home: Know The Neighborhood Before Buying A Golf Home
Sitting quietly in the yard and listening to the sound of
falling golf balls may seem the perfect way to spend a
summer evening. However, there is more to living in a
golf home than the quiet setting of having a golf course
in the back yard. The perfectly manicured greens and
fairways may lose some of their luster if the rest of the
neighborhood does not meet the quality of the neighborhood
expected in such a location.
It is quite popular to purchase a golf home near the ocean
or at the foothills of picturesque mountains, within a
neighborhood surrounding a quality golf course. Looking
away from the course, visions of ocean scenes and snow-capped
mountains can offer the type of beauty nearly anyone appreciates.
However, looking slightly beyond the fences of the gated
community, there may be sights that do not fit in with the rest
of the picture, and building a bigger gate may not be the answer.
There are times when a person is so caught up in the idea of
living in a golf home that they fail to look beyond the
borders of their lawn. The type of investment made in most
golf homes is not going to be cheap and if the surrounding area
is not keeping up with the neighborhood, the property may not
retain it value, even as a golf home. As many communities are
trying to replace failing neighborhoods with more attractive
homes and activities, it may be a risk to buy a golf home in
an area in the early stages of the transformation.
It will depend on the confidence of the people putting together
a new community that may consist of anywhere from a couple hundred
homes to a few thousand dwellings in order to make the investment
worth the money. Continued, long-term association with the old
neighborhood can also hinder the future of the community unless
long-range plans are in place to assimilate the two adjacent
neighborhoods. Especially when constructing new, private communities
insuring a buffer exists between the two is the only sure way to
determine the future value of the golf home investment.
